By the second week in June, 84 people and 17 teams had helped Housing Assistance approach the nearly halfway mark towards its $80,000 fundraising goal for this month’s Walk for Hope.

One of this year’s participants, Matt Bolinder, a retail development officer for First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union, has experienced firsthand the impact our programs have on the community. “I benefitted from Housing Assistance when I was a kid,” he said during our virtual Walk for Hope Registration Party held last month. “I feel indebted to them and am just one of countless success stories they have created through their work. The best part of my success story is now I’m able to give back as a volunteer for Housing Assistance.”

With a few weeks left until we celebrate the culmination of this year’s virtual walk on our Facebook page on Saturday, June 26, there’s still time for you to help.

You can register as an individual or with a team by clicking the button below.

The event is the perfect bonding activity for friends, families, school groups, community groups, faith-based groups, and businesses. Because it’s virtual, you can walk anywhere, at a time and location convenient for you.

Among the teams participating in this year’s Walk for Hope are the Falmouth Jewish Congregation, Sotheby’s International Realty, the Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS, Cotuit Federated Church, the First Congregational Church of Falmouth, John Wesley United Church, and the Congregational Church of South Dennis.

“Our team hopes to raise awareness of the outreach Housing Assistance provides to those most in need on Cape Cod and the Islands,” said Carole Lyons, who is walking with the First Congregational Church of Falmouth. “During these difficult times, with such a housing crisis in our area, these services are needed now more than ever and we hope that our walk will make a meaningful difference in our community.”

This year, trophies and prizes will be given out to the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraising team.

Even if you can’t participate, you can make a donation today and help us take meaningful steps to address the housing crisis on Cape Cod and the Islands.
