Family Shelter Program Director

Housing Assistance is currently hiring for a Program Director for our family homeless shelter in Falmouth. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.

As Program Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shelter which supports up to 10 single or pregnant mothers who are currently experiencing an episode of homelessness. The Program Director is responsible for daily administration, staff supervision, program support, and contract compliance. This position provides a unique opportunity to impact the lives of single mothers and children by ensuring a productive and safe shelter stay.

A Bachelor’s Degree in a human science or social science field is required. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with homeless or low-income families; the ability to supervise and provide leadership; strong written and oral communication, personnel management and conflict resolution skills; the ability to work effectively during a crisis situation; and possess well-developed decision making skills. Computer proficiency and a thorough knowledge of MS Word and MS Outlook is required. A valid Massachusetts drivers’ license is required.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience; experience developing, managing, evaluating, and operating programs serving homeless populations; knowledge of community resources; and be bilingual.

This position reports to the Director of Family Homeless Shelters.

FSS Homeownership Counselor

Housing Assistance is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) employee for its Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Homeownership Counselor position.

The FSS Homeownership Counselor is responsible for the successful launch of the FSS Homeownership Track in conjunction with the FSS Manager. This will include the recruitment and support of participants for the Savings Match for Homeownership Program (SMHP), and developing a cohort of participants working together towards the shared goal of becoming homeowners.

Essential functions for this position include: counseling to participants; outreach and enrollment; coordinating or identifying high quality workshops designed to inspire and educate future homebuyers; coordinating services; maintaining relationships with eligible mortgage lenders; and providing assistance to mortgage repair.

The ideal candidate must have a commitment to and experience working with diverse and multicultural clients; counseling and assessment skills; familiarity with the region; effective verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team. A valid Massachusetts drivers’ license is required.

A four-year degree in social work or public policy or an Associate’s degree, with at least four years’ experience in program implementation and participant coaching for homeownership and financial counseling is preferred. A minimum of three years’ experience in social services/case management is required.

Case Manager/Recovery Specialist/Office Support

A full-time position exists to enhance the recovery potential of families without permanent housing. This position works to develop and implement a service plan with families to increase skills and competency, support recovery efforts and program compliance, and provide program support.

Qualified candidates must show they have working experience being creative, compassionate, computer literate, and detail oriented. This position requires an active LADC/CADC, equivalent education, or personal recovery experience. This position will provide case management, recovery support, and program support under the supervision of the Clinical Director and Program Director. This is an essential position that requires on-site work.

Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager

Housing Assistance Corporation is currently hiring for the position of Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager. The primary role of this position is to provide wrap-around case management services to increase support and follow-through with individuals who have previously been homeless. This position will provide housing search activities; stabilization; and case management services to program participants.

The qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in human services or a related field; a valid MA Driver’s license; and ability to become First Aid/CPR certified. Experience working with a similar population and in a case management role is a plus! This is an hourly, full-time position. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Family and Individuals Services.

Medication Coordinator/Recovery Specialist

A 25-hour position exists at Housing Assistance Corporation to enhance the recovery potential of families without permanent housing who are experiencing substance use disorders. This position is Monday through Friday, noon to 5 pm.

The Medication Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all medication distributed onsite and ensuring program documentation is completed for program residents. No medical training is required. This job requirements consist of picking up medication from the pharmacy and packing medication with program residents on a weekly and/or an as-needed basis.

The program requires someone who is detail orientated, organized, consistent, and compassionate. MAP training and experience working in a recovery environment is a plus! The Medication Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Program Director. The pay rate is $16-$19.25 per hour. w

Village at Cataumet Shelter Support Staff

Housing Assistance Corporation is looking for support staff for nights, weekends, and holidays/per diem for our family homeless shelter in the Bourne area. Our shelters serve families who are experiencing homelessness and help them to stabilize their housing situation.

Qualified applicants will have an interest or experience working with families in crisis; be dependable and reliable; and be able to follow shelter procedures. Support staff report to the Shelter Director.

Available shifts, include every other weekend:

  • Friday, 4-8 pm AND 4 pm-midnight
  • Saturday and Sunday, noon-midnight

Holiday and per diem coverage hours vary. The rate is $14.79 per hour. Signing bonuses and stipends are available for a limited time.

Energy Auditor

Housing Assistance Corporation has an opening for a full-time position in our Energy Department. This is a wonderful opportunity for a person who wants to enter the energy conservation industry or who has experience as an energy auditor.

Training opportunities are available for the right person to become a certified energy auditor.

Duties include outreach to prospective customers; conducting energy and electrical assessments in single-family homes and multi-family buildings; completing work orders for installation of weatherization measures; working with weatherization contractors throughout the installation process; conducting quality control inspections and processing information using software programs.

Skills required include excellent time management, organization, customer service, good work ethics, and computer literacy. Must be independent and a team player. Experience and/or knowledge of weatherization measures and building science and/or single-family home construction is a plus. A valid driver’s license is required.

Housing Stabilization Program Manager

Housing Assistance Corporation in Hyannis is looking for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Housing Stabilization Program Manager to manage program operations and work with homeless or at-risk households on Cape Cod.

The Program Manager will work with homeless or at-risk households referred through a Community Health Center. This position will coordinate with external medical staff, provide housing focused case management to assist households in achieving or maintaining stable housing, and provide project management for needed home modification projects.  This position will eventually involve meeting with identified households in both community and office settings post COVID.

This position will also be responsible for program administration, data entry/reporting, and flexible funds management.

Qualified applicants will have experience providing direct case management, working collaboratively with social service providers, be able to engage with others in a compassionate motivating style, and be knowledgeable about local resources. Valid MA drivers license required.  Experience with program management is a plus!

Housing Mobility Program Manager

Housing Assistance has a full-time position available to oversee its SNO Mass (Supporting Neighborhood Opportunity in Massachusetts) Program. Responsibilities will include intake and assessment; case management; housing search and placement; and housing stabilization. This position will support clients through motivational coaching and counseling and lead workshops and trainings to address housing barriers. Additional responsibilities include landlord support and recruitment as well as internal coordination of leased housing and inspection staff. The Housing Mobility Program Manager will report to the Director of Leased Housing.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in social services/case management, customer service or experience in real estate, subsidized housing programs, and fair housing. This position requires counseling and assessment skills; familiarity with local resources; effective written and verbal communication skills; and proficiency in PC-based computer software. Valid MA drivers license required.

Program Counselor

Housing Assistance has a full-time position available to oversee the provision of services to tenants and landlords participating in rental assistance programs. Responsibilities include: maintaining client files; negotiating leases and contracts; mediating for landlords and tenants; and providing information to applicants, property owners, other agencies, and the general public.

The ideal candidate must have exceptional organizational and time-management skills, above average oral and written communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, be able to comprehend and utilize complex program regulations and procedures, and be sensitive to confidential issues and to the needs of households with low income. Two years of relevant experience is preferred.

Case Manager (Village at Cataumet)

Housing Assistance is hiring for a Case Manager at our family homeless shelter in Cataumet. This position will work directly with clients to identify housing barriers, assist with housing search activities, and complete required state documentation. From assessment to placement, the case manager will be responsible for assisting families with budgeting, monitoring completion of required tasks, and supporting efforts to secure long-term, secure housing.

Qualified candidates will have experience working with homeless or low-income families, be team oriented, have experience identifying community resources, and must have a valid driver’s license. A bachelor’s degree in a human services field is a plus.  This position will report to the Director of the Village at Cataumet.
