Housing Counselor

Housing Assistance Corporation is currently hiring for the position of Housing Counselor. The primary role of this position is to engage with people who are requesting information through the agency for housing counseling, referrals, and financial assistance.

The Housing Counselor will engage with individuals and families to provide requested information and counseling. This position will provide Reverse Mortgage Counseling to clients who are required to receive unbiased information regarding the benefits and risks of a reverse mortgage while working with an outside lender. The counselor will also provide Foreclosure Counseling to clients who are delinquent in mortgage payments and at risk of losing their housing regarding the process of loss mitigation and reviewing financial information to make a determination of financial feasibility moving forward. This position will also administer funding for movie-in or housing retention costs for households who are housing unstable and in need of public/private funding to stabilize their housing.

Required skills for this position include the ability to perform math/accounting equations; the ability to be extremely detail oriented, compassionate, and consistent; and the ability to become a HUD HECM Counselor Certified and HUD Housing Counselor Certified within 6 months of hire.

Experience working with high-risk individuals with a team in a case management system or information/referral system is a must. This position will report to the Director of Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC).

Upper Cape Case Manager

Housing Assistance Corporation is looking for a full-time, 35 hours per week Case Manager to work with homeless or at-risk households on Cape Cod with a specific focus on the Upper Cape.

The Case Manager will work with homeless or at-risk households referred through a Community Health Center 3 days per week. This position will coordinate with external medical staff, provide housing-focused case management to assist households in achieving or maintaining stable housing, and provide project management for needed home modification projects. This position will eventually involve meeting with identified households in both community and office settings, post-COVID.

The Case Manager will work with at-risk households at Falmouth Human Services 2 days per week. This position will coordinate with external collaterals and provide housing-focused case management to assist households in achieving or maintaining stable housing. In-person services are required.

Qualified applicants will have experience providing direct case management, working collaboratively with social service provides, be able to engage with others in a compassionate, motivating style, and be knowledgeable about local resources. A Valid MA drivers license is required.

Leasing/Owner Service Specialist

Housing Assistance is looking for a full-time, 35-hour per week employee for our Leasing/Owner Service Specialist Position. This full-time position is eligible for benefits.

The role of the Leasing/Owner Service Specialist is to serve as the key point of contact for owners participating in our Leased Housing Program. The individual is expected to build and maintain strong relationships with owners. The individual is responsible for processing moves, rent requests, and reasonable rent determinations for new and existing units.

This role will report to the Leased Housing Director.

Case Manager (Village at Cataumet)

Housing Assistance is hiring shelter Case Managers at our family homeless shelter in Cataumet. This position will work directly with clients to identify housing barriers, assist with housing search activities, and complete required state documentation. From assessment to placement, the case manager will be responsible for assisting families with budgeting, monitoring completion of required tasks, and supporting efforts to secure long-term, secure housing.

Qualified candidates will have experience working with homeless or low-income families, be team oriented, have experience identifying community resources, and must have a valid driver’s license. A bachelor’s degree in a human services field is a plus.  This position will report to the Director of the Village at Cataumet.

Intake Coordinator

The Intake Coordinator position is responsible for greeting Housing Assistance clients and visitors; evaluating service needs; and making referrals to appropriate programs. This position answers incoming calls and distributes all incoming correspondence; collects and enters client data into appropriate software systems; ensures that customer service practices are providing a positive experience and are aligned with company values; and provides triage and initial information about housing programs and referral services to clients.

Qualifications for this position include the ability to capture and enter client information in electronic databases, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to be compassionate, and the ability to interact with high-risk clients while being respectful and keeping appropriate boundaries. Basic knowledge regarding housing programs is required!

This position requires the ability to work from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday, and reports to the Information and Client Services Manager. Both on-site and remote work are required.

FSS Homeownership Counselor

Housing Assistance is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) employee for its Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Homeownership Counselor position.

The FSS Homeownership Counselor is responsible for the successful launch of the FSS Homeownership Track in conjunction with the FSS Manager. This will include the recruitment and support of participants for the Savings Match for Homeownership Program (SMHP), and developing a cohort of participants working together towards the shared goal of becoming homeowners.

Essential functions for this position include: counseling to participants; outreach and enrollment; coordinating or identifying high quality workshops designed to inspire and educate future homebuyers; coordinating services; maintaining relationships with eligible mortgage lenders; and providing assistance to mortgage repair.

The ideal candidate must have a commitment to and experience working with diverse and multicultural clients; counseling and assessment skills; familiarity with the region; effective verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team. A valid Massachusetts drivers’ license is required.

A four-year degree in social work or public policy or an Associate’s degree, with at least four years’ experience in program implementation and participant coaching for homeownership and financial counseling is preferred. A minimum of three years’ experience in social services/case management is required.

Village at Cataumet Shelter Support Staff

Housing Assistance Corporation is looking for support staff for nights, weekends, and holidays/per diem for our family homeless shelter in the Bourne area. Our shelters serve families who are experiencing homelessness and help them to stabilize their housing situation.

Qualified applicants will have an interest or experience working with families in crisis; be dependable and reliable; and be able to follow shelter procedures. Support staff report to the Shelter Director.

Available shifts, include every other weekend:

  • Evening Shifts, 4-8 pm AND 4 pm-midnight
  • Saturday and Sunday, noon-midnight
  • Holiday/Per Diem coverage hours vary

The rate is $17 per hour. Signing bonuses and stipends are available for a limited time.

Carriage House Shelter Support Staff

Housing Assistance Corporation is looking for  a part-time, 20 hour/week employee to work at our women’s and children homeless shelter in North Falmouth. Our Carriage House shelter serves families who are experiencing homelessness and helps them overcome barriers so they can find success once out of shelter.

The shifts for this position are:

  • Evenings, 3 pm to 10 pm
  • Overnight Shifts: 10 pm to 8 am
  • Various weekend shifts and holidays

The rate for this position is $17 per hour and includes a signing bonus. Per diem shifts may also be available.

Housing Mobility Program Manager

Housing Assistance has a full-time position available to oversee its SNO Mass (Supporting Neighborhood Opportunity in Massachusetts) Program. Responsibilities will include intake and assessment; case management; housing search and placement; and housing stabilization. This position will support clients through motivational coaching and counseling and lead workshops and trainings to address housing barriers. Additional responsibilities include landlord support and recruitment as well as internal coordination of leased housing and inspection staff. The Housing Mobility Program Manager will report to the Director of Leased Housing.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in social services/case management, customer service or experience in real estate, subsidized housing programs, and fair housing. This position requires counseling and assessment skills; familiarity with local resources; effective written and verbal communication skills; and proficiency in PC-based computer software. Valid MA drivers license required.
