Who We Are

For over 50 years, Housing Assistance has been an integral part of the Cape and Islands community. As the region has evolved, so has our organization. We started as a rental voucher agency in 1974; today we have a staff of 120 and offer a range of services and programs that bridge the wide gap between homelessness and homeownership. Our work seeks to elevate the Cape and Islands economy and community, empower residents of all ages and income levels, and address the root causes of our housing crisis.

Vision & Mission

Our vision at Housing Assistance is building a vibrant year-round community where everyone has a stable place to call home. Our mission is to create and preserve pathways to stable, attainable year-round housing that empowers individuals and families to stay rooted and thrive in our community.

What Our Clients Say

I would recommend this program to just about any living soul who is interested in bettering their knowledge about finances and budgeting, setting personal goals that will better their lives, and wants to put some serious thought into the dream of owning their own home.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program Client

Thank God for Housing Assistance. People like Monica, they believe in me enough, they help you get on your feet. It is a steppingstone. I’m not looking to be taken care of the rest of my life, but right now I need a little help. That is it.

Mary
Family Self-Sufficiency Program Client

It’s meant everything to be able to have this place. It is me and my kids in a room. This is our home. I’m beyond grateful…I will always remember that when I leave here.

Amanda

The employees at Housing Assistance were unbelievable and made it possible for me to become a homeowner on Cape Cod. Now my family has comfort, security, and peace of mind.

It’s hard to ask for help, but in this situation, it was sink or swim. When I contacted Housing Assistance, there was so much understanding and compassion. It felt like we were all in this together.

Sally

I had completely given up on my dream of homeownership before FSS. You gave me hope again and now I’m living in a home in my dream neighborhood.
