Since 2014, Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, has organized a drive for Housing Assistance clients, collecting backpacks and school supplies for children in shelter and those who have been diverted from shelter.
“The parents will be so relieved and the kids will be so ecstatic to get these,” Housing Assistance Executive Assistant Ann Rebello told Kelley Spodris, the church’s business manager, when she dropped off the donations last month. “Being in shelter is tough on the parents and tough on the kids.”
Spodris said the drive is “a great way for us to give back to the community and the people love doing it.”
