First Steps to Home Ownership Class for Massachusetts Residents
Are you hoping to buy a home? Do you know what lenders are looking for in order to approve you for a mortgage? This class will provide an overview of what it means to be “mortgage ready” and provide an opportunity to self-assess what steps you need to take to get there. You’ll review the basics of credit and budgeting and learn about additional available resources to help you on your path to homeownership.
This is just one course Housing Assistance offers to support home buyer education. There is also a financial literacy course called Money Matters, which is available free of charge, and the First Time Home Buyer Course for Massachusetts Residents.
Course Goals:
- Think about whether homeownership is right for you
- Learn the importance of budgeting and your credit profile
- Review the basics of the lending process
- Learn about what a lender is looking at for you to be considered mortgage ready
- Explore different loan programs
- Learn about affordable homeownership opportunities in our community
- Learn about individual counseling to help you become mortgage ready
Course Information
Our First Steps to Home Ownership online class is a one-time class, offered monthly. It is for Massachusetts home-buyers, and consists of 1 hour of education. The class is offered in a virtual (Zoom) webinar format. Class materials will be provided.
This class does not meet the requirements for First-Time Homebuyer Education and no certificate will be issued. If you are looking for that resource, go here.
