Housing Our Community: Challenges, Collaborations, and Hope

August 26 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us on August 26 for a discussion with author Richard D. Kahlenberg. Co-sponsored by Housing Assistance and the Jewel Cobb Action Coalition.

We invite you to be part of a timely conversation with Richard D. Kahlenberg, author of “Excluded: How Snob Zoning, NIMBYISM, and Class Bias Build the Walls We Don’t See.”

Dr. Kahlenberg’s book reveals a new bias against those with less education and income. Millions of working-class Americans have the opportunity to own or rent a home blocked by exclusionary snob zoning. These government policies make housing unaffordable, frustrate the goals of the civil rights movement, and lock in inequality in our urban and suburban landscapes.

Despite this there is hope. Kahlenberg will share inspiring stories of growing number of local and national movements working to tear down the walls that inflicts so much damage on the lives of millions of Americans.
