Michael of Orleans with the crew from SVS Masonry and Housing Assistance Director of Housing Production and Maintenance Keith Trott and Housing Assistance CEO Alisa Magnotta.
“What they’re doing is a godsend,” Michael said as a crew of volunteers from SVS Masonry in West Dennis, mowed his lawn and cleared his Orleans yard of overgrown brush and weeds. “I was embarrassed the way it looked. …They can do miracles. This is a great relief off my mind.”
In a day, volunteers were able to transform Michael’s yard, remove a picnic table, and paint the trim on his garage.
This is now the second time that John Pereira, owner of SVS Masonry, and his team have volunteered for the Big Fix. In 2019, they removed a tree for World War II veteran Douglas Knotts at his home in Centerville. “This is a good thing to help people,” Pereira said.
