Walk for Hope 2020 participants

This year’s Walk for Hope may have been held virtually, but as our CEO Alisa Magnotta said during the kick off to the event on our Facebook page, “we’re in this together, working towards safe and affordable housing for all who live in our community.”

Over $40,000 has been raised by those who walked, donated to and sponsored last month’s event. For the second straight year, the top fundraising individual was Rev. John Rice of Yarmouth, who raised nearly $2,100. The Falmouth Jewish Congregation was the top fundraising team, amassing nearly $7,000 in donations.

“My congregation has supported Housing Assistance for many years, we’ve been involved in many walks and this one is especially important,” Rabbi Elias Lieberman said of why he walked with the Falmouth Jewish Congregation this year. “The COVID epidemic has affected all of us and many of our friends and families on Cape are struggling with housing, with paying a mortgage, with wondering where the next paycheck will come from. This is why the work of the Housing Assistance Corporation is so important and why this walk is so important.”
