After a year in which the Big Fix went virtual due to the pandemic, the event is returning in a big way with work having already been done on four homes owned by seniors in Orleans. On Saturday, October 2, more volunteers will come out to conduct small repairs – landscaping, fixing fences, and more – at our Angel House and Village at Cataumet family shelters.
While we’re currently at volunteer capacity for these projects, there’s still an opportunity for you to do your part as a Big Fix Neighbor. Register now and organize your own project to help a neighbor in need or to give back to your community. Last year, volunteers cleaned up their neighborhood; beautified yards for their neighbors; and handed out backpacks, school supplies and food to local families.
Projects can be done on October 2nd or in the weeks and days leading up to the Big Fix. Anyone who signs up as a Big Fix Neighbor will receive an event day T-shirt.
“We look forward to seeing the creative ways that our community comes together to give back and help others in need,” Chief Development Officer Anne Van Vleck said. “Each of us can do something small, whether it’s landscaping or cleaning up trash, for a neighbor that can stabilize their living situation and make a big difference in their life.”

Even if you can’t organize your own Big Fix project, you can still support our work to connect residents to the safe, stable housing they need year-round with a donation to this year’s event here.
