Amiplify People of Color
In late May, Housing Assistance board member, local artist and activist Tara Vargas-Wallace fielded many requests from Cape Codders looking for a resource that would help them support local Black-owned businesses. Finding none, Tara created it: an easily accessible online directory of Cape Cod POC (people of color) owned businesses. In the process, she realized a much broader initiative: Amplify POC Cape Cod, which is an organization that will promote racial equity to POC-owned businesses not only through the online directory, but also through business and financial literacy programming in order to positively impact economic power to people of color across the Cape.

LoveLiveLocal
This is the 8th year LoveLiveLocal is hosting shopping fests to connect local makers, brands and businesses with those who love the Cape Cod community and want to show their support by shopping local.
Since we can’t shop in person at large festivals, throughout the week of December 5 – 12 LoveLiveLocal will be hosting an online community shopping event on a dedicated web page and on social media. You can find your Fest favorites along with some new faces, and all of the locally made products and Cape Cod brands that bring a unique flavor to our community and help celebrate the special place we all love.
Be sure to follow @lovelivelocal on Facebook, Instagram or sign up for their email list at lovelivelocal.com.
Civic Rent
Shepley Wood Products and Barnstable Brewing are teaming up to raise funds for Cape Codders who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis with “Civic Rent,” a beer that goes beyond great brewing. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Civic Rent will benefit the Workforce Housing Relief Fund, established by Housing Assistance Corporation in response to the pandemic.
Civic Rent is a crisp, mildly sweet, light lager-style beer that combines Barnstable Brewing’s passion and brewing expertise with Shepley’s charitable giving philosophy. When it comes to the community, “I view ‘civic rent’ as a social obligation that we should pay back to our community, both personally and professionally,” Tony Shepley said.
Civic Rent is available on and off-Cape at Cape Cod Package, Gordon’s Liquors, Kappy’s and Lukes of Cape Cod as well as at Barnstable Brewing, located at 485 West Main Street, Hyannis.
