Quarter Century Club Members, Hannah and Larry Langsam

In 2020, Hannah and Larry Langsam were two of the newest to join the club. The couple, who have been married for nearly 52 years and have three grown daughters, are one of only 17 members of our Quarter Century Club.

They started giving to Housing Assistance in 1996 when they first participated in our Housing with Love Walk with the Falmouth Jewish Congregation.

“We’ve felt very strongly about what Housing Assistance does,” said Larry, who has lived in North Falmouth with his wife since 1971. He has summered here since he was 10 when he and his family used to vacation at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel.

“We love the ocean. We love the weather. It is just a beautiful place to live and very enjoyable,” Larry said.

While there is much to love about the Cape, both he and his wife understand how difficult it is for so many to be able to afford to live here. It’s why they are passionate about supporting organizations that provide the essentials – housing and food – for families and individuals in need on Cape Cod and the Islands.

Two years ago, the couple toured our Angel House shelter in Hyannis. “We were very impressed with Angel House, not just with the fact that you were providing the mothers with housing, but you were supporting them with programs to help them move on from shelter,” Hannah said.

While both Larry and Hannah are long since retired – he worked in retail clothing and she taught French – they continue to find ways to give back, something they have done for much of their lives.

Larry said it was a concept that his father-in-law impressed upon him. “He was very philanthropic,” Larry said. “He taught me to first take care of your family and whatever you can do after that, give back. That’s what we have done. It feels so good to give back to people who really need it. It’s a great feeling and I’m so happy I can do it.”
