The town of Orleans is considering Housing Assistance’s proposal to build 14 Affordable apartments at the location of the former Masonic Lodge, 107 Main Street. Converting underutilized properties to housing  fills in gaps in our neighborhoods, creates housing that blends with the community context, and provides much-needed rentals that our workforce can afford. Financing these types of smaller-scale developments can be complicated, because there aren’t the same economies of scale that builders would have in a large apartment complex. It takes a lot of different funding sources to make it work! View this presentation about the history of the 107 Main Street project to learn more.
